Hello,
You probably thought that I had gone away. I did for awhile.  I am really a terrible blogger, but I am going to try to improve for the 2012 year. January is here in Missouri, not in the usual form-- ice and snow and slippery streets.

This is what I have coming up ! I was the featured artist for the City of Independence at the Martin Luther King Celebration on January 16, 2012 which was held at the Truman Memorial Building in Independence, Missouri.  I displayed 10 original paintings- among them was one of my newest ones- " The Gambler" which is also featured in the Xanadu Gallery January issue magazine that goes to over 80,000 collectors. I sold  two copies of that painting by the next Monday. The exposure was really great. I met all the important city officials starting  with the Mayor and his wife. I have copies of this picture available if you are interested. Just e-mail me.

Next month, February,  which is right on me,  I will be showing at the Kansas City Kansas Main Public
Library located at 625 Minnesota Street in KCK.  This  show will open on February 15 and run until March 13, 2012 .

February 9, 2012, I will be at the Black History Market Place event from 9 am-2 pm at 901 Locust Street in Kansas City, Missouri.  I will be selling mostly cards, reproductions and jewelry at this event.

Quickly following that from February 10-12, 2012  - I will be at the 49th Ward Parkway Mid Winter Art Fair in Kansas City.

I am taking time to participate  in the Kansas City Artist's Coalition Sweet Heart Ball and Auction as a volunteer on February 15, 2012.

My Expose-- Not Good--- poor service---no excuses New Work

Two times in one week this is a record.
The new work in my Women Doing Ordinary Things is:

HOT, HOT , HOT a Reggae Band in the Islands

Just found out that www.myexpose, my former website host -who will not communicate with me, has managed to block my access via yahoo to  my google blog. Over the years that I was with them, they have gotten several customers through their Whisper Program because of my referrals. Well, I do not want to put the cabbash  on anyone but our conversations seemed to have stopped shortly after Tanner left for higher ground, and they failed to shell out the last check that they owed me from the Whisper Program.

They no longer will return phone calls or return e-mails-- kind of over a 10 month period-- did manage to get an e-mail out to me that my bank would not do an auto debit any longer for them..  They did not answer the e-mail that I returned to them- that did not have a new debit number asking that they contact me instead.  How interesting !!

Wonder if they are like Chase Manhattan Bank and all the rest of our business community who are using foreign call centers ?  I guess that they are lucky that I do not have many followers to my blog YET !

Oh yes, I just  remembered -they do have a FACEBOOK page-- wonder if they will answer through their public forum ?

In the meantime-- consider carefully before you use www.my.expose.com- who have raised their prices for less service, one of several reasons that  I wanted to talk to them---OH yes the real kicker- they changed their phone number.
-My bank could not get them either - that is when I found out that Chase's helpful call center was in the Philippines. . Bank regulations in America require a working phone number for a debit.  Apparently, this is not so in the Philippines    Does this  sound more like fraud to you??.stay tuned !!

Women Series: The Engagement

                                                                "The Engagement"

I am posting another of the works, on Women Doing Ordinary Things.,  "The Engagement".

It has been awhile since I have written. I told you that I would not write often.  I do have things to share.

First, I am leaving my website, www.flowers.myexpose.com.  I have been represented by them  for a long time. I am grateful and  appreciative of the function that they served for me over the last several years. If you visit that site now it will indicate that it is disabled or suspended. I prefer disabled since i left them.   In the near future, I will be putting up another website that offers more flexibility in range for my endeavors.  In the meantime, I have work on this blog, which I hope that you  will consider following,  and on two other sites, Summitart.org and independenceartassociation.org.

Second, I participated in the Plein Air event at the Perry Yacht Club in Kansas. The people were lovely and hospitable and painting water reminded me of home- Michigan! I sold one picture there. It is posted here, too; unfortunately, I did not get reproductions made before I submitted it the Regatta Art Show at the lake.
Waiting to Sail

Last, for now- I have the pleasure of showing with the Light in the Other Room,  a exceptionally talented group of African America  Artists from the greater Kansas City area, who are celebrating their 10th Anniversary in a group show at the Lofts Gallery 2101 Vine in Kansas City in the Vine Street area near the American Jazz Museum. The opening is September 30, 2011 from 5-8 pm.  This event was juried by  Carolyn Cameron, Fiber Artist, James Martin, Curator, Truman Medical Center art collection and Leonard Pryor, President Emeritus, Kansas City Art Institute.  The exhibit and will be sponsored by the Greater Kansas City Links Chapter.  This promises to be a wonderful networking evening with administrative representation from the Nelson and the Kemper Museums who will gather at this show to welcome the new President of the Kansas City Art Institute and of course. to congratulate the TLITOR members. Add this event to your calendar, this kind of gathering only happens on occasion.

The show is curated by Pat Jordan, curator of the Lofts Gallery.

Another New Try

It is raining today.  My computer or Computer Associates,CA,  my virus protection, is trying really hard not to allow me to finish my work. I am posting or will try to post the next in the Series Women Doing Everyday Things.  This picture is:  Life Continues... I am still trying to put this on my website, even after several frustrating adjustments with CA.

I had a really, really great day yesterday- I started with the 18th and Vine District- visited the Jazz Museum and worked my way all the way downtown. I visited  every gallery that was open in the Cross Roads Arts District in Kansas City, Missouri. Several old favorites are closed, and there are several new "art spaces" open. I would not classify some of these sites as  real galleries, although the KC Star lists them as galleries.

I had breakfast in Lee's Summit and had dinner in Westport in Kansas City, MO. I finished the evening by visiting the Silver Smith's Guild meeting at the Westport  Presbyterian Church.  I have been trying to make this  meeting since I moved to Missouri. They had a wonderful demonstration on fuse soldering argentinum silver. Plan to join if they continue to meet on third Fridays.  Seems to be a really nice group of artists.

I am really excited to announce that I will have a gallery show scheduled at the Vine Street Studio Gallery 2101 Vine Street  with Pat Jordan Associates in September, 2011 in Kansas City, Missouri.  Will be more blogging  about this as I get closer to the date and get more direction from Pat Jordan, a well known veteran gallery owner in Kansas City.

Still Trying to figure this out- Here is "Pop"

I am still trying to figure out blogging and remember where to start blogging.

I am posting this picture of "Pop" which I sent to my family. Many of them said that they got the blog but not the-mail with this picture embedded into the information. So I am posting this here. I am only doing a limited number of reproductions of this original, and in one of my rare decisions, I am not selling this original unless it is to a family  member. One family member has agreed to purchased a giclee but wants it done on canvas.

This was done the week of the snow, and rain and ice and more snow here in the Kansas City area in 2011.  This is Pop.  I managed to catch the look that he could give that laughed at something that I would be trying so hard to justify.  This giclee does not do the picture justice.  I really like the finish that I put on this picture.  Now that I have posted it - I think that the color is really off. I am going back to my photographer have this re photographed because I do not like the scan and the effects it had on this picture. This is an acrylic with many layers of  mat glazing and has some texture from the paint. The scan picked up light reflections.

All right - why not become one of my followers if you like what you are seeing ??

New Picture - The Walk

Hi Again,
I am posting  a new work, " The Walk", which is already purchased by a person in Michigan. "The Walk "will be part of a series - until I have exhausted my ideas on the topic of women in social and nurturing settings. I have reproductions of this work which is fresh off the press. This painting will be in the Blue Springs Art League Fine Arts Group Show in Blue Springs,Missouri held at Vesper Hall 400 NE Vesper The opening is March 26, 10- 5 pm which is followed by a private awards reception; the charge for the reception is $ 8.00 per person $ 15.00 per couple. The show is open free to the public Sunday, March 27, 2011 11-4 pm.

I will also be a part of a group show, The Robert E. Tindall Scholarship Show, at George Owens Nature Park 1623 Speck Road in Independence, Missouri. This show will run from March 7-25, 2011 from 9-5 Tuesday - Sunday. You can check out the Independence Art Association Website:independenceartassociation.org for more details on Robert Tindall, who left his collection to the Independence Art Association to be sold to benefit a scholarship for a talented Independence Art student wanting to major in art. Again,we  will be selling  giclees one of  Tindall's works, a newly discovered self portrait,  as the commemorative picture for 2011.  I am this year's show chairperson.

I Think that I Am Finally Here

I think after fooling around trying to start this blog that I am finally here. Google is saying that it does not exist- will see in a minute. I worked for ever on trying to get this up- I searched the Forum, the help, the many thousands of complaints, Firefox, CA, Google, cookies, cakes and pies--nothing- cleaned cache on all the site until I was blurry eyed  and finally at 4 am decided to post a question - where I found lots of folks with similar problems but not the same as mine.. See nothing on this site worked for me- NOTHING- I could not upload, download, or save- except for a tiny incomplete part of my profile on blog.com.

I woke up this morning after church started --and after I did my morning meditation-and decided that I would try one more thing that I remembered that always  gives me a fit-- the firewall, except I have reloaded my op system- and downloaded a different version of CA, Computer Associates, inc which does not behave too well either.  Well, I think that I hit pay dirt-after really reading and fooling with CA for three hours- I figured how to make this load -- pics and everything. I was going to share this great piece of wisdom but at 4 am I don't remember which forum that I posted the question to.... downloads from your updates.. are creating most of the conflicts. no one bothers to tell you that you have to re-set several items  after the downloads on your computer.  Nine changes viola- pictures loaded, the blog took the information, except that Google does not recognize it yet--not at all-- but I read on a forum that it takes awhile for blogs to become active. Weird- since e-mail is active right away.

I may have made one more error I tried AdSense-- and made a typo- They seem to want to reassign my e-mail- I think that I will just deal with the blog- for now to see  if it stays up and I can get one post on it!
